Search registered users and email matching people

I would like to allow users (employers) to enter job vacancies and as they enter the data there is a field maybe at the top of the form that shows the number of matching regsitered users (i.e. those that might be suitabel for the job). Upon submission of the job which gets posted on the website, I would like the matching users to be emailed the job descritpion (i.e. the data just entered by the employer).

Can I do this using Gravity Forms? I know I can send form content to posts as I have already have done this, but I am not sure about the rest. I guess I would need the developer version but before I spend $199 I really need to know if this is possible.

  2. Are you considering the developer license so you have access to the User Registration add-on? That add-on would make it easy to register users and have a complete profile, so I think you would need the add-on for that, in any event.

Regarding showing the number of users who match, I'm not sure how you determine that information. Is this a simple match, like the registered user checked some skills in their profile, and when an employer posts a job, he is checking off required skills, and if there is a match, you count that as a match for the number shown?

Regarding emailing all matching users (registered users whose skills match those required for a newly posted job) Gravity Forms would not be able to do that.

For both problems, showing the number of matching applicants, and emailing applicants a notification of a new job posting they may be qualified for, Gravity Forms will not help you. The User Registration add-on will allow you to register users and collect relevant data about their skills. But the rest of your application will need to be custom coded functionality.

Does that help with your decision?

Thanks for your help. I am happy to go for the Developer licence as long as I am sure that I can somehow get it to work how I want.

In answer to your first point, yes I think it would just be a simple comparison between the
same fields (e.g. years' experience) in the job vacancy form and in the profile of each registered user. How difficult would this be and would I be able to get help from Gravity to do this? If the Registered User plugin allows me to gather information then I can't imagine it's that difficult...?

Showing the number of matching users is important as it gives the employer a reason to submit the job vacancy on the site. Again, how difficult do you think it would be to do this and could I get help on the Gravity forum to do this?

    Cheers
