is there any way to have an image that is uploaded by the "image" field in "post fields"
be set as the "featured image" that is used in WP 3.0?
I'm trying to have Slidedeck use the post and image that is uploaded by a user through a form.

Currently there isn't a way to automatically assign an image as the feature image. It's a good idea and we can look into seeing if this would be possible for us to do dynamically, i'm not 100% sure if it is but i'll add it to our idea list and we can see about including it in a future release if it's doable.

I've written my theme to use the featured image in a magazine style and automatically added to the post, so this would be perfect for me, as right now I have to go into the admin of each post to select the featured post.

It is something we are going to look into, at this point we don't even know if it is possible. If the necessary hooks don't exist to trigger the feature image functionality from outside the post editor than this isn't something we will be able to do... but we will look into it.

No news. It isn't planned for the 1.5 release which is what we are finishing up now. We will look at it for inclusion in the 1.6 release.
