It's in the 1.6beta1 version that came out yesterday.
We have added a new advanced form setting to require a user be logged in to view the form, or display a message if they are not logged in. The message also supports short codes so you could insert a Gravity Form short code to display an alternative form if they are not logged in.

It's a very fresh beta so I would not rely on it for any production sites, but depending on your timeline, maybe this functionality will work for you.
Very nice, I will check it out. When would it go to a formal version?
1.6 final will be released once Gravity Forms is reasonably certain it's a solid release, based on reported issues. If you have the ability while building your site, we would appreciate you testing it out and providing us with any feedback. It's not ready for a production site, but it's plenty usable and important fixes come fast when issues come up.
The span from 1.5beta1 to 1.5 final was a little over two months, with about 6 or 8 beta and release candidates in between those two versions. You can take a look at the blog to get an idea of how long releases have taken in the past.
UPDATE: I have upgraded. But do have questions posted in the User Add On forum http://www.gravityhelp.com/forums/topic/post-user-registration#post-38699

Hi Chris, I'm in the process to implement this... It looks like 1.6 still in beta?
If so, I could test 1.6 re: requiring user registration but I need to go live with it.. so I'm wondering whether I should or not. And if I do, is it a matter of just uploading the zip over my current registered paid for version?
Or... would what I need to accomplish (only registered user can submit posts) be done by upgrading to developer license, since it includes user registration? (that said, I'm trying not to as I only have one site on a very modest personal budget)
Seems like I might have addressed this another post.
I cannot recommend using the RC on a live site. It's good for testing and useful to see if the functionality does what you want. It is very stable, but it's still pre-release software.
For upgrading from a release candidate to the final version: yes, just delete the old plugin folder, upload the plugin and unzip it. I don't even deactivate and reactivate. I usually visit the plugin settings page to see if there is anything new to be configured. But the changes from RC5 to final are typically going to be very small, bug fixes more than new features.
